Box Score St. Mary's City, MD-- The St. Mary's College of Maryland Women's Basketball Team (14-11) opened up the United East Conference Playoffs by hosting Lancaster Bible College (8-17) in a quarterfinal match-up. The Seahawks started fast and came out on top, 85-69.

The Seahawks started the game fast, scoring seven of the first nine points. Tramarie Mobray and Melanie Aguilar got the scoring started with two made layups and Olivia Liszt chipped in a free throw. St. Mary's really began to hit their stride in the middle of the quarter. The Seahawks went on a 12-0 run to extend their lead to 15. Olivia Liszt added two three pointers during that run and the Seahawks were able to make the Chargers pay from the free throw line. Marley Saunders, Sam Blaylock and Amira Whitaker each connected on a three pointer to end the quarter as the Seahawks used the massive scoring outburst to take an early 28-12 lead.

The Chargers began to fight back to start the second period and trimmed the St. Mary's lead to just 10. Fortunately for the Seahawks, they were able to stay red hot from behind the three point line. Marley Saunders, Amira Whitaker, and Olivia Liszt each splashed in a three pointer in the quarter. St. Mary's led 45-32 at the half.

Offense continued to be a streak for the Seahawks as they started the new half on a 12-4 run. The Seahawks began to make the Chargers pay at the rim and Tramarie Mobray was a huge catalyst to that. Amira Whitaker and Olivia Liszt also continued to make things happen at the mid-range. St. Mary's went into the final quarter leading by 15.

Tramarie Mobray and Olivia Liszt got things going for St. Mary's to begin the final quarter with two make baskets, but Lancaster Bible kept hanging around and once again cut the Seahawk lead to 10. The Chargers wouldn't stop there at one point had the St. Mary's lead down to just five points in the final minutes. The Seahawks were able to show their clutch gene and close out the game on a 13-2 run thanks to great defense and free throw shooting. Tramarie Mobray was a big part of slowing the Charger momentum down and came up huge by finishing at the rim and free throw line for the Seahawks. St. Mary's took the game 85-69 to advance to the United East Conference, Volit Division Semifinals.Â
