ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's lacrosse team notched their first win of the 2024 season Saturday afternoon (Feb. 24). St. Mary's College (1-2) tallied a 24-0 non-conference victory over Trinity Washington University (0-1) as 13 Seahawks found the back of the net.
Senior captain
MC Mortimer (Baltimore, Md./Friends) recorded her 100th career point with her third point of the afternoon as Mortimer assisted on the Seahawks' ninth goal of the game. She finished the game with three helpers.
How It Happened
- SMCM triggered a running clock with 3:30 remaining in the first quarter when sophomore attacker Katelin Scala (Catonsville, Md./Mount de Sales) scored an unassisted goal for a 10-0 lead.
- The Seahawks headed into halftime with a 15-0 advantage as juniors Hailey Betch (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park), Colin Horton (University Park, Md./Elizabeth Seton), and Ella Baynes (Baltimore, Md./Catholic) and first-year midfielder Hope Harrison (Catonsville, Md./Mount de Sales) all tallied two goals each while Betch collected two dimes.
- First-years Bri Anderson (Yorktown, Va./York) and Taylor Wysokinski (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) each registered their first career hat tricks with three goals apiece in leading St. Mary's College in the second half.
