SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Shutdown defense in the second half propelled the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's lacrosse team to their second consecutive win Tuesday night (Feb. 27). St. Mary's College (2-2) tallied an 18-6 non-conference road victory over Susquehanna University (1-2) behind career performances from senior attacker Bella Dunigan (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville) and junior captain Colin Horton (University Park, Md./Elizabeth Seton).
 
How It Happened

• Horton and Dunigan gave the Seahawks an early 2-0 less than two minutes into the game; however, Susquehanna responded with three straight to stake a 3-2 lead at 5:38. Dunigan then assisted on Horton's second of the quarter to knot the game at 3-all. The River Hawks took a one-goal lead into the second frame as Emma Kelleher found the back of the net.
• After Dunigan tied the game once again, SU notched a pair of goals in a 43-second span to claim a 6-4 advantage with 10:15 remaining in the half. St. Mary's College scored three in a row to head into halftime with a 7-6 lead.
• The momentum remained in the Seahawks' favor as the visitors stretched that 3-0 push into a 14-0 run over the final 30 minutes of the game.
• Susquehanna committed 11 turnovers and finished with just seven shots in the second half as SMCM put up a defensive wall, including first-year Allie Greeley (Havre de Grace, Md./Havre de Grace) turning away six River Hawk shots.

• St. Mary's College posted a 37-17 shot margin while winning the ground ball battle, 23-17, as junior midfielder Madison Laine (Kingsville, Md./Mercy) scooped up a career-best four loose balls.
• The River Hawks edged the visitors, 15-12, in draw controls and finished with 19 turnovers for the game.
