St. Mary's City, MD-- The St. Mary's College of Maryland Baseball Team (2-3) hosted the Vermont State Lyndon Hornets (0-4) in their first home game of the year. The Seahawks came out on top, 4-2.Â
How It Happened

The Seahawks struck first in the opening inning to take a 1-0 lead. Chase O'Dell singled down the line with one out to advance George Berbakos to third. Berbakos would go on to score.Â

St. Mary's had three straight singles to begin the second inning. Trevor Smith would reach home on an error from the Hornets. The Seahawks took a 2-0 lead.

Vermont State Lyndon recorded their first run and first hit of the day in the top of the fourth inning to trim the Seahawk lead to one.

Cole Tarleton would begin the bottom of the seventh inning with a lead off triple. Tarleton went on to score on the next at bat off of a sac fly from Gavin Wathen.Â

Just an inning later, George Berbakos hit a triple of his own to get into scoring position. Chase O'Dell recorded a sac fly RBI to get Berbakos home for an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth. The Seahawks led the Hornets 4-1.Â

The Hornets scored a run in the top of the ninth, but the Seahawks slammed the door shut on any comeback attempt after that. St. Mary's took the game, 4-2.
