Seahawks Baseball Drops Two Games in Harrisburg

Harrisburg, PA-- The St. Mary's College of Maryland Baseball Team (2-8) traveled to Penn State Harrisburg (9-5) for their first United East Conference Double header of the year. The Seahawks dropped the first seven inning game, 4-2 and the second game 4-0 in a nine inning contest.

How It Happened (Game 1)

  • The Nittany Lions scored one run in the first and three runs in the second to build a 4-0 lead early in the ball game.

  • The Seahawks collected two hits over the course of the middle innings.

  • George Berbakos got St. Mary's on the board with a home run in the top of the sixth inning. Just two batters later, Cole Tarleton sent a ball over the fence for the second solo shot of the inning for the Seahawks. 

  • The rally would end there for St. Mary's as they would fall by a final score of 4-2.

Inside the Box Score (Game 1)

  • George Berbakos and Cole Tarleton each connected on a solo home run. 

  • Ian Walters and Layne Lesko each contributed a hit as well for St. Mary's. 

  • David Baggott and Nick Russo each made appearances on the mound for St. Mary's. Baggott picked two innings and gave up four earned runs with two strikeouts. Russo went four innings only giving one hit and allowing zero earned runs.  

How It Happened (Game 2) 

  • Penn State Harrisburg early, taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.

  • Chase O'Dell recorded a single in the top of the fourth to give the Seahawks some momentum. O'Dell stole second, but was left stranded on base to end the inning.

  • The Nittany Lions added another run in the bottom of the second to extend their lead to two. 

  • Penn Harrisburg added two more runs in the bottom of the eighth to take a 4-0 lead in the ball game.

  • Cole Tarleton notched a two out double in the bottom of the ninth in an effort to rally. Unfortunately, the Seahawks could not send him home. Harrisburg took the second game, 4-0.
