Declan Horton (University Park, Md./DeMatha) each put in career performances in leading the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse team to their second straight win Wednesday night (Mar. 20). St. Mary's College (5-2) used a seven-goal third quarter to post a 22-9 non-conference road victory over Marymount (Va.) University (2-6).
How It Happened
- Hochrein scored twice in the first quarter as the Seahawks notched a 5-2 lead after the first 15 minutes of action.
- SMCM outscored the Saints, 5-3, in the second period as junior midfielder Jake Levey (Marriottsville, Md./Marriotts Ridge) contributed a goal and an assist, doubling up the hosts, 10-5, going into halftime.
- St. Mary's College put the game out of reach in the second half as the Seahawks opened the third frame with six unanswered goals to go up 16-5 at 4:56.
- After junior defensive midfielder Quinnten Hatfield (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) with one second left in the third, SMCM rattled off four in a row to begin the fourth and boast a 21-6 lead with 8:37 remaining in the game.
- Jack Williams helped Marymount to a 3-0 run in a two-minute span with two goals and an assist to make it 21-9 with 3:23 to go in regulation.

- First-year Ty Grove (Finksburg, Md./Saint John's Catholic Prep) upped his career-high in saves by two as he notched 13 stops tonight and picked up two loose balls.

- Bryan Maguire paced the Saints with four goals while Ian Fructuoso added a goal and three helpers.
