Seahawks Women’s Lacrosse Post Second Shutout Win of the Season

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Sophomore attacker Katelin Scala (Catonsville, Md./Mount de Sales) tallied career-bests of four goals and seven points as the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's lacrosse team remained undefeated in United East Conference play. St. Mary's College (6-5, 2-0 UEC) won its second straight league contest with a 20-0 shutout of Cedar Crest College (4-2, 0-1 UEC).
 
How It Happened
  • The Seahawks posted an 11-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.
 
  • SMCM led 15-0 at halftime as Scala and junior attacker Hailey Betch (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) combined for 12 points (8 goals, 4 assists) in the first 30 minutes.

  • St. Mary's College limited the Falcons to three shots while taking 40.
  • The Seahawks posted a 29-13 margin in ground balls behind five loose ball pickups by senior captain Rachael Freeman (Baltimore, Md./Friends) and first-year midfielder Grace Lintz (Towson, Md./Towson).
  • Cedar Crest struggled to transition the ball out of its defensive end, having only five successful clears in 21 attempts.

  • Freeman, Boudreau, and Lintz all notched two caused turnovers.
  • First-years Allie Greeley (Havre de Grace, Md./Havre de Grace) and Annie Wise (Canton, Ga./Woodstock) split equal time in goal with Wise making the lone save.

  • Kayleigh Woomer and Irelyn Yoder combined for nine saves in the loss.
