Lexington, VA- The St. Mary's College of Maryland Volleyball team (2-2) kicked off the W&L Quad Match with a Friday night matchup with Southern Virginia University (1-5) The Seahawks fell to the Knights in three sets.

How it Happened

• Southern Virginia took the opening set 25-19. The Seahawks trailed through a majority of the set, but evened the score at 16-16 midway through. From that point, the Knights used a five point run to regain control and earn a set one victory. 

• The Seahawks and Knights played a back and forth second set, with no team leading by more than four at any point. The Seahawks captured their first lead of the contest, claiming a 18-17 lead. St. Mary's would extend that lead to 19-17 before the Knights came back to even the score at 20. Southern Virginia went on to score four of the final five points of the set to take a 2-0 lead in the match. 

• St. Mary's started the third set on a roll, gaining a 10-5 advantage. The Knights would find their footing, going on a 6-0 run to retake the lead. Southern Virginia remained in control through the rest of the third set. The Knights went on to win the set 25-19 to pick up their first victory of the year.

• Julia Bobrowski paced the Seahawks with nine kills. 

• Stella Marrero picked up three service aces.
