Women's Soccer Draws No. 25 McDaniel

Salisbury, MD. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland Women's Soccer Team (3-0-1) kicked off the Salisbury classic with a matchup against 25th ranked McDaniel College (2-0-1). The Seahawks and Green Terror ended the game in a 1-1 draw.

How it Happened

  • The Seahawks found themselves tied 0-0 after the opening 45 minutes of play. 

  • McDaniel had a majority of the scoring opportunities throughout the first half, but only had one goal to show for it.

  • Kyleigh Bland had three first half saves for the Seahawks. 

  • Abby Witzel found the back of the net for the Green Terror to begin the second half. 

  • After the early goal, the second half became a defensive battle with just five combined shots between the two squads. 

  • Despite offensive chances being hard to come by, the Seahawks stayed patient and finally found the back of the net. Keira O'Neail was able to thread the needle in the 84th minute with a beautiful ball sent into the box that found the foot of Rylee Cessna. Cessna did the rest and the Seahawks and Green Terror were tied once again.

  • The game ended in a 1-1 draw.
