Chambersburg, PA-- The St. Mary's College of Maryland Women's Basketball Team (7-6) began the new year with a road United East Conference Contest against Wilson (3-10). The Seahawks came out of the game victorious, defeating the Phoenix 76-68.Â

St. Mary's started the game by scoring the first four points after two made free throws from Tramarie Mobray and a layup and Olivia Liszt. From that point forward, the Phoenix and Seahawks traded points with Wilson holding a three point advantage after the first quarter.Â

The Seahawks and Phoenix continued to play an evenly matched game well into the second quarter. Wilson took their largest lead of the game midway through the frame, holding a nine point advantage over the Seahawks. St. Mary's answered back to end the half, scoring the final eight points before the intermission. Sam Blaylock knocked down two three pointers to help the Seahawks recapture the momentum. Wilson led 35-34.Â

The Seahawks were able to recapture the lead at the seven minute mark of the third quarter following a Keira Mason jump shot. St. Mary's grew their lead to as much as five in the quarter and ended up leading by four going into the final 10 minutes of play. Keira Mason, Rayna Miller and Olivia Liszt all had big quarters offensively for the Seahawks.Â

St. Mary's never trailed in the fourth quarter and grew their lead to as much as 12 after another made Sam Blaylock three pointer midway through the final quarter. Wilson attempted to mount a comeback, but the Seahawks were able to cash in on their free throws and won the game 76-68.Â
