St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's soccer team put together a strong defensive effort on Tuesday evening but came up short in a 1–0 setback against regional opponent Salisbury University at Jamie L. Roberts Stadium.
The first half featured disciplined defensive structure from the Seahawks, who allowed limited quality looks while goalkeeper Breanna Brown came up with timely saves to keep the match scoreless at halftime. Brown finished with a standout 10-save performance, turning away multiple close-range chances and keeping St. Mary's firmly in contention throughout the night.
Salisbury broke through in the 57th minute on a strike from Olivia Pasko, capitalizing on a spell of extended offensive pressure. St. Mary's continued to fight for an equalizer, generating late opportunities from Megan Rusk, Keira O'Neail, and Madelyn Minichino, who registered the team's lone shot on goal.
The defensive unit held strong through long stretches of the match, while the midfield battled effectively to disrupt Salisbury's build-up play.
The Seahawks finished with seven total shots, while the Sea Gulls held a 7–0 advantage in corner kicks, helping tilt second-half momentum in their favor.
St. Mary's now shifts its full focus to postseason play, returning to Jamie L. Roberts Stadium this Saturday to host a United East Quarterfinal as the Seahawks look to bounce back and advance in the conference tournament.
