Lancaster, Pa. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's volleyball team wrapped up regular-season play on Saturday with a hard-fought split in a tri-match at Lancaster Bible College. The Seahawks opened the day with a thrilling 3–2 victory over host Lancaster Bible before falling just short in another five-set battle against Shenandoah University, 3–2.
The results move St. Mary's to 14–14 overall and 8–2 in United East play, securing a top seed and the right to host a United East Quarterfinal match this Saturday at the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena. Match time is to be determined.
In the opening match against Lancaster Bible, the Seahawks rallied from an 0–2 deficit to take the final three sets and secure the comeback win (19–25, 22–25, 26–24, 27–25, 15–5). St. Mary's hit .146 as a team, with Hope Parrish leading the offense with 14 kills and a .333 hitting percentage. Julia Bobrowski and Maya Mauro each contributed double-digit kills, while Sanaa Porter added eight kills and five block assists. Camilla Galeano dished out 21 assists and tallied two service aces, and Stella Marrero anchored the defense with 18 digs. The Seahawks dominated the decisive fifth set, hitting .400 and holding the Chargers to a –.417 attack percentage.
In the afternoon matchup with Shenandoah, St. Mary's took the opening set but ultimately fell in five (25–18, 19–25, 19–25, 25–21, 10–15). Erianna Mendieta led the attack with 10 kills, while Faith Shockley added eight kills and hit .300. Alex Williams chipped in nine kills and nine-and-a-half points, and Maggie Mohler hit an efficient .385 with five kills and four block assists. Galeano and Arielle Lubeck combined for 32 assists and six service aces, while Marrero once again led the back row with 12 digs.
The Seahawks finished the day displaying balance and determination, pushing both opponents to five sets and showcasing the consistency that has carried them into postseason play.
St. Mary's will return home to host a United East Quarterfinal match this Saturday at the Michael P. O'Brien ARC Arena. Opponent and match time will be announced by the conference office early this week.
