Box Score Pittsburgh, Pa. – One of the most historic season's in St. Mary's College of Maryland women's volleyball history came to a close on Thursday afternoon, as the Seahawks fell to No. 5 Wisconsin–Eau Claire, 3–0 (25–13, 25–23, 25–13), in the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship First Round at the Highmark Center for Health, Wellness and Athletics.
Playing in their first NCAA Tournament match in program history, the Seahawks (17–15) showed resilience and fought point-for-point in the second set before the nationally ranked Blugolds (28–4) pulled away late to complete the sweep.
Julia Bobrowski led St. Mary's with 10 kills, hitting an efficient .409, while adding an ace, two blocks, and seven digs in an all-around standout performance. Sanaa Porter and Maya Mauro added four kills each, with Porter adding two blocks and Mauro contributing seven digs.
Hope Parrish and Faith Shockley each tallied two kills, while Erianna Mendieta recorded two kills off the bench on six swings.
Setters Camilla Galeano and Lauren Panageotou combined for 17 assists, while libero Stella Marrero anchored the back row with six digs and two service aces. Elizabeth Childs added three digs as part of the Seahawks' defensive effort.
After dropping the opening set, St. Mary's responded with its strongest stretch of the match in the second, hitting .184 and staying within striking distance the entire way. The Seahawks held multiple one-point leads midway through the set, but a late 4–1 run by Eau Claire allowed the Blugolds to take a 2–0 match advantage.
Wisconsin–Eau Claire's offense proved difficult to contain throughout the afternoon, hitting .297 behind 19 kills from Bailey Leeke.
Despite the result, the match caps off a monumental season for St. Mary's,
