ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team, the two-time defending United East Conference champions, will not have an opportunity to three-peat after falling Wednesday night (Nov. 5) in the semifinals of the 2025 United East Championship Tournament. Top-seeded St. Mary's College (13-6-1) succumbed to a 2-1 setback at the hands of fifth-seeded Penn College (11-6-2).
How It Happened
- Junior Jordon Eckman (Fallston, Md./Loyola Blakefield) and Justin Crismale each made two saves in the first half to send their respective squads into halftime in a scoreless draw.
- The Seahawks struck first in the 67th minute when junior forward Franco Reyes (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) dribbled along the edge of the penalty box before ripping a shot into the top left corner.
- It was a short-lived lead for SMCM as Mason Kostick found Logan Pietrzak three minutes later for a 1-1 draw in the 70th minute.
- Diego Diaz's goal at 78:20 was the separation that Penn College needed to claim the victory and advance to the program's first-ever United East championship game.
