St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's volleyball team opened the 2025 United East Conference Tournament in dominant fashion on Saturday morning, sweeping Penn State Abington 3–0 (25–16, 25–15, 25–14) inside the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena.
The victory advances the No. 2–seeded Seahawks to the United East Semifinals, where they will host Lancaster Bible College next week at the Michael P. O'Brien ARC Arena.
St. Mary's (15–14) was sharp from the start, hitting an impressive .330 as a team while limiting the Nittany Lions to just a .031 attack percentage.
Julia Bobrowski led the way with 11 kills and five service aces, while hitting .304 on the day. Hope Parrish added nine kills on a stellar .750 hitting percentage, and Maya Mauro tallied seven kills, a service ace, and a block. Faith Shockley chipped in four kills and two blocks at the net.
Setters Camilla Galeano and Lauren Panageotou combined for 27 assists and three aces, helping the Seahawks maintain rhythm offensively. Stella Marrero anchored the defense with 12 digs, while Erianna Mendieta and Sanaa Porter contributed valuable minutes on both sides of the net.
The Seahawks controlled the match from start to finish, using efficient hitting and aggressive serving to keep Penn State Abington on its heels throughout.
The Seahawks will now turn their attention to Lancaster Bible College in the United East Semifinals, with the match to be played in St. Mary's City.
