Washington, D.C. –The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's basketball team earned a convincing 70–48 road win over Gallaudet University on Monday night, using a dominant first half and relentless defensive pressure to move to 2–2 on the season.
The Seahawks surged ahead early, outscoring the Bison 19–10 in the first quarter and 24–8 in the second to take a commanding 43–18 lead into halftime. St. Mary's forced 33 turnovers and converted them into 36 points, including 21 fast-break points, setting the tone throughout the night.
Olivia Liszt led the Seahawks with a game-high 18 points, knocking down three three-pointers while adding four rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Tramarie Mobray followed with 12 points, five rebounds, and a team-best five steals as the Seahawks' defensive anchor.
Halimah Hajhassan controlled the boards with eight rebounds and added six points, while Rayna Miller tallied five points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
The Seahawks' bench provided a major spark, combining for 29 points. Samantha Blaylock knocked down three three-pointers on her way to nine points, while Marley Saunders and Skylar Woodyard each chipped in five and four points, respectively, along with high-energy defense.
St. Mary's shot 36% from the field and 24.2% from three while collecting 16 offensive rebounds that led to 10 second-chance points. Defensively, the Seahawks held Gallaudet to just 1-of-3 from beyond the arc and limited the Bison to 22 points in the paint.
Gallaudet was led by Seanna Baird with 14 points and Natalie Greene with 12.
The Seahawks return to action this Wednesday with a home rematch with the Bison at 7:00PM
