Blair Pours in 21 as SMCM Men’s Basketball Takes on Regis (Mass.)

GALLATIN, Tenn. – First-year guard Korey Blair (Baltimore, Md./Overlea) matched his career-high of 21 points Tuesday (Dec. 30) at the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team wrapped up action at the Music City Classic held at The Student Activities Center at Welch College. St. Mary's College (4-6) dropped a 70-61 non-conference decision to Regis (Mass.) College (7-4).

How It Happened
  • Regis led from the first whistle as the Seahawks were ice cold in the first half, connecting on only six field goals to head into halftime down 31-20.
  • After shooting just 18.8-percent over the first 20 minutes, SMCM knocked down 14-of-30 field goals in the second half, including six from deep, to win the frame, 41-39.
  • St. Mary's College used a 7-2 push at the start of the second to pull within six at 18:02 on a jump shot by senior captain Jake Koverman (Severna Park, Md./Southern).
  • The Seahawks would get no closer as the Pride put together a 23-9 run over the next 10 minutes to distance themselves, boasting their biggest lead of the game, 56-36.
  • SMCM continued to fight and outscored Regis, 25-14, down the stretch to cut the deficit to nine by the final whistle.

Inside the Box Score
  • The Pride made the most of St. Mary's College's season-low 10 turnovers, converting them to 11 points.
  • Regis did most of its damage inside, putting up 40 paint points to the Seahawks' 24.
