ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Six Seahawks tallied three or more points as the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's lacrosse team rolled to their second straight win Sunday (Mar. 16). St. Mary's College (2-4) notched a 22-7 non-conference decision over Hartwick College (1-3) as the two sides celebrated the life and legacy of Jamie L. Roberts '11.
Jamie was a three-year member of the Seahawks women's lacrosse team, playing goalie and earning Second Team All-Capital Athletic Conference honors in 2010. She was more than just an athlete—she was a leader, a scholar, and a friend to everyone she met. In 2014, while biking across the country to raise awareness for young adults impacted by cancer, Jamie's journey was tragically cut short.
Yet, her legacy of determination, selflessness, and joy continues to inspire us all. The phrase
Live Like Jamie has been coined as a reminder to give your best effort, uplift those around you, and approach each day with passion and purpose.
The Seahawks and Hartwick, who is coached by Seahawks women's lacrosse alumna,
Nora Fallon-Oben '10, each nominated a teammate who embodies Jamie's legacy to wear her lacrosse jersey number, 32. Senior captain
Madison Laine (Kingsville, Md./Mercy) and the Hawks'
Katrina Marten both wore No. 32 during today's game.
