St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's tennis team hosted Penn State Harrisburg for their first United East conference matchup this spring. The Seahawks caved to the Lions, losing 7-0, and moving the Seahawks to (4-5) for the season.
How It Happened:
Doubles
- Nick Rohr (Fairfax County, Va./ James W. Robinson) and Jacob Nelson (Olney, Md./ Sherwood) competed in the No. 1 doubles match for the Seahawks. Rohr and Nelson fell 6-3 to the Lions.
- Andrew Hand (Huntingtown, Md./ Huntingtown) and Alex Lyman (Annapolis, Md./ Annapolis) dropped in the No. 2 spot, losing 6-1.
- The Seahawks No.3 double tandem featured Max Esztergomi (Bethesda, Md./ Walt Whitman) and Hudson Christensen (Annapolis, Md./ St. Mary's). Esztergomi and Christensen dropped their match 6-2.
Singles
- Nick Rohr (Fairfax County, Va./ James W. Robinson) lost the match in two sets in the No. 1 singles match, losing 6-2, 6-1.
- Max Esztergomi (Bethesda, Md./ Walt Whitman) competed in the No. 2 match, falling in two sets 6-2, 6-0.
- Jacob Nelson (Olney, Md./ Sherwood) competed in the No. 3 spot, dropping both sets 6-4, 6-2.
- Andrew Hand (Huntingtown, Md./ Huntingtown) fell in two sets in the No. 4 matchup, dropping both sets 6-1, 6-3.
- Alex Lyman lost both sets in action in the No. 5 match. Hand fell to the Lions 7-5 win-by-two, 6-1.
- Devon Gorel (Jessup, Md./ Hammond) concluded the singles matches for the Seahawks in the No. 6 spot, dropping the matchup 6-4 in the first set and 7-6 in the second set after falling in the tiebreak 7-4.
