BALTIMORE, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's lacrosse team opened United East Conference action in a big way Tuesday afternoon (April 1). St. Mary's College (4-6, 1-0 UEC) blanked Notre Dame of Maryland University (0-10, 0-2 UEC), 26-0, as the three-time defending United East champions notched their second straight win.
How It Happened
- The senior captain duo of Hailey Betch (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) and Madison Laine (Kingsville, Md./Mercy) combined for the game's first goal as Betch found the back of the net just 39 seconds into the game and the Seahawks never looked back.

- The SMCM defense limited the Gators to just three shots as St. Mary's College with a 42-3 shot margin.
- The Seahawks gained a 23-9 ground ball advantage as well as a 19-8 edge in draw controls.
- SMCM finished the game with a +12-turnover margin as the visitors committed only six miscues to the Gators' 18.

- Betch led all point-getters with a season-best nine points on three goals and a seaon-high six assists while chipping in a season-best three ground balls.
- Senior captain Colin Horton (University Park, Md./Elizabeth Seton) contributed a game-high four goals and an assist plus four draw controls.
- Junior attacker Katelin Scala (Catonsville, Md./Mount de Sales) and sophomore midfielder Sanne Elling (Ocean View, Del./Sussex) each also scored a game-best four goals. It was a career performance for Scala while Elling added career-bests of two caused turnovers and two ground balls.
- Sophomore midfielder Hope Harrison (Catonsville, Md./Mount de Sales) registered her first hat trick of the season with three goals.
- Attackers Sam Collins (Alexandria, Va./Bishop Ireton) and Natalie Flor (Edgewater, Md./South River) each tallied a goal and three assists.
- Junior defender Carsyn Smith (Crownsville, Md./Old Mill) led the defense with career-highs of six draw controls and five ground balls.
- Sophomore Allie Greeley (Havre de Grace, Md./Havre de Grace) made two saves and had one loose ball pickup in 40:50 minutes of relief.
Notre Dame Game Notes
- Leah Hasberry came up with seven stops as the Gators remain winless in 2025.
