Landisville, Pa. – The #1 seeded St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team 2024-2025 season has concluded in the United East Conference championship match against #2 seeded Penn State Harrisburg hosted at the Hempfield recCenter. The Seahawks fell to the Lions 4-0, as the championship tournament requires only the first team to reach four points to win.
The Seahawks finish the season with a 13-5 record and an 8-0 record in conference play.
How It Happened:
Doubles
- Lauren Lovejoy (Newburg, Md./ La Plata) and Stella Manns (White Hall, Md./North Harford) lost in the No. 3 tandem 6-1.
- Sarah Levit (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) and Giselle Harris (Easton, Md./ Easton dropped their match 6-2 in the No. 2 doubles duo against the Lions, giving up the doubles point in order of finish.
Singles
- Sarah Levit (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) fell in two sets in the No. 3 match 6-4, 6-3 for the first singles loss of the day.
- Lauren Lovejoy (Newburg, Md./ La Plata) lost in the No. 5 matchup, dropping 6-3, 7-5 win-by-two to the Lions for the third overall loss for the Seahawks.
- Amber Manspeaker (Finksburg, Md./ Westminster) competed in the No. 2 spot, falling in action against the Lions. Manspeaker lost the first set 6-0, then rallied back in the second set for a 6-4 win to force the third set. Manspeaker then dropped the third set 7-6 after forcing a tiebreak and falling 7-2 in the tiebreak. The loss was the fourth point for the Lions to claim the United East title.
