Seven Seahawks Earn Spot on United East Spring All-Sportsmanship Teams

LATHAM, N.Y. – Seven St. Mary's College of Maryland student-athletes were honored with spots on the 2025 United East Conference Spring All-Sportsmanship Teams.
 
The United East Spring All-Sportsmanship Team recognizes student-athletes who epitomize the ideals of sportsmanship. Student-athletes selected to the All-Sportsmanship Team demonstrate fair play, graciousness in victory and respectfulness in defeat. Everyone was chosen by their coach as a representative who embodies the Division III spirit.
 
Baseball
Senior Ian Walters (Galena, Md./Kent County) was a member of the 14-person Baseball All-Sportsmanship Team. Walters hit at a .315 clip this season, collecting 34 hits, seven doubles, three triples, and two home runs in a team second-best 108 at-bats. The 5-9 catcher helped the Seahawks reach the United East Final Four this season.
 
Men's Lacrosse
Earning a spot on the four-person Men's Lacrosse All-Sportsmanship Team was senior Joe Murray (Lutherville, Md./Towson). This is Murray's second straight appearance on the All-Sportsmanship Team. He tallied 17 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers in 14 games played with five starts. The 6-2 defenseman was part of four United East tournament championship teams.
 
Women's Lacrosse
Landing on the Women's Lacrosse All-Sportsmanship Team was sophomore Sam Collins (Alexandria, Va./Bishop Ireton). The 5-3 attacker contributed 12 assists and seven goals in eight games as SMCM notched its fourth straight United East tournament championship crown.
 
Men's Tennis
Senior Devon Gorel (Jessup, Md./Hammond) was one of eight United East players to be named to the Men's Tennis All-Sportsmanship Team. Gorel posted a 7-6 record in singles this season, including a 4-2 mark in conference action. The 5-10 team captain helped St. Mary's College advanced to the United East championship match for the fourth consecutive time, capturing the title in 2022 and 2023.
 
Women's Tennis
Senior Giselle Harris (Easton, Md./Easton) picked up one of the 11 spots on the Women's Tennis All-Sportsmanship Team. Harris notched an 11-3 record in singles action, including a perfect 8-0 in league play. The 5-2 team captain also went 10-5 with a 7-1 conference record in doubles. She helped the Seahawks advance to four consecutive United East championship matches, winning it all in 2022 and 2023.
 
Men's Outdoor Track & Field
Sophomore Jake Robey (Kensington, Md./Georgetown Prep) represented SMCM on the nine-person Men's Outdoor Track & Field All-Sportsmanship Team. Robey collected two All-United East awards at the United East Outdoor Championships, earning Second Team as a member of the 4x400m relay and Third Team in the 800m run.
 
Women's Outdoor Track & Field
First-year Macy Woroniecki (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) joined the 11-person Women's Outdoor Track & Field All-Sportsmanship Team. Woroniecki earned a pair of Second Team All-United East awards in the 800m and 1500m runs, helping the Seahawks captured the program's first United East Outdoor Championship crown.
 
These student-athletes are ambassadors for their teams, both on and off their respective competitive surfaces, and galvanize their teammates toward their goals. They show respect for themselves, teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, spectators, and the greater campus community.
