ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – St. Mary's College of Maryland Director of Athletics and Recreation
Crystal Gibson announced that
Dan Schenk has stepped down as the head men's and women's rowing coach at St. Mary's College after one season. Schenk left to pursue an opportunity with Vero Beach Rowing in Vero Beach, Fla., as the Director of Rowing and Head Coach.
In his one season with the Seahawks, Schenk guided the women's rowing program to their second straight Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) championship title while the men finished seventh in the 11-team field at MARCs. Additionally, the women made their third appearance in the NCAA Division III Women's Rowing Championships, notching a seventh-place finish for the program's highest finish ever.
He mentored seven All-MARC selections, including three First Team picks.
A national search for the next SMCM head men's and women's rowing coach will begin immediately.
