Box Score PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's volleyball team turned in a dominant performance Saturday afternoon, sweeping the University of Valley Forge in straight sets (25-6, 25-13, 25-7) on the road. With the victory, the Seahawks improve to 6-8 on the season, while the Patriots fall to 5-5.
St. Mary's controlled the match from start to finish, hitting an efficient .340 as a team while limiting Valley Forge to a -.194 hitting percentage. The Seahawks tallied 39 kills to the Patriots' 18 and held a commanding 73-23 edge in digs.
Erianna Mendieta led the way with a team-best 11 kills on a .364 clip, adding seven digs and six assists. Sanaa Porter chipped in six kills and three service aces, while Maggie Mohler was perfect offensively with five kills on five swings. Arielle Lubeck and Kaleigh Wiseman provided a defensive spark at the net.
The Seahawks served tough throughout the match, finishing with 18 service aces, highlighted by Mendieta's five and Porter's three. Setter Maya Mauro directed the offense with 15 assists, while libero Stella Marrero anchored the back row with a match-high 11 digs.
St. Mary's returns to action on Thursday, October 2, traveling to McDaniel College for a 6:00 p.m. non-conference matchup.
