SALISBURY, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's soccer team earned a hard-fought 0-0 draw against perennial power William Smith College on Saturday afternoon at Sea Gull Soccer Stadium. With the result, the Seahawks move to 2-0-2 on the season, while the Herons stand at 2-0-1.

The Seahawks relied on a standout defensive effort and a stellar performance in goal from senior Kyleigh Bland, who posted eight saves to secure her second shutout of the season. Bland came up big against constant pressure, as William Smith fired 26 shots, including eight on target.

Offensively, St. Mary's produced four shots, three of which were on goal. Junior Ella Raines and senior Sidney Shaw each tested the Herons' keeper, while sophomore Allie Petryszak had a late attempt in the 86th minute that forced a save.

William Smith controlled much of the possession, holding an 11-1 advantage in corner kicks, but the Seahawks' backline kept the Herons off the board.

The draw marks the Seahawks' third consecutive shutout and continues their unbeaten start to the 2025 campaign. St. Mary's will return to action tomorrow, September 7th, when they take om Rowan for the second day of the Salisbury Classic.
