Box Score ST MARY'S CITY, Md. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland volleyball team battled to a five-set victory over McDaniel College on Friday evening at the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center. The Seahawks fought through a back-and-forth match before coming through in the decisive fifth set to secure the victory.
St. Mary's opened the match with a 25-21 win in the first set, but McDaniel responded to even the match with a 25-21 victory in the second. The two teams continued to trade points in the third and fourth sets, with the Green Terror taking the third set before the Seahawks answered with a 25-23 victory in the fourth to force a deciding fifth set. St. Mary's closed out the match with a 15-11 win in the final frame to earn the five-set victory.
Julia Bobrowski led the Seahawks offensively with 16 kills and 24 digs for an impressive all-around performance.
Faith Shockley contributed 11 kills while hitting .346, and
Sanaa Porter added 11 kills.
Hope Parrish and
Stella Marrero each recorded nine kills, with Marrero also contributing 19 digs.
Camilla Galeano paced the Seahawks offense with 28 assists while adding 17 digs and three service aces.
Elizabeth Childs anchored the defensive effort with a match-high 28 digs.
As a team, the Seahawks recorded 68 kills, 61 assists, 108 digs, and eight service aces. With the win, St. Mary's improves to 11-5 overall. The Seahawks will travel to Penn State Berks on Tuesday, October 6, for their third United East Conference match-up of the season.
