Box Score READING, Pa. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland volleyball team continued its strong start to United East Conference play Tuesday evening, sweeping Penn State Berks, 3-0, at the Beaver Athletics & Wellness Center. The Seahawks took the match by set scores of 25-16, 25-16 and 25-15 to improve to 12-5 overall and 3-0 in United East play.
The Seahawks set the tone early, taking the opening set before repeating the same score in the second set. St. Mary's closed out the match with a 25-15 third-set victory, completing the sweep and never allowing Penn State Berks to gain an advantage after the opening set.
Vlada Costenco led the Seahawks offensively with 10 kills while hitting .381, while
Julia Bobrowski added six kills and 10 digs.
Faith Shockley and
Stella Marrero each contributed four kills, while Shockley also added three block assists.
Sanaa Porter recorded two kills and three block assists.
Camilla Galeano placed the St. Mary's offense with 18 assists and added eight digs and three service aces.
Elizabeth Childs led the Seahawks defensively with 14 digs, while Bobrowski followed with 10. The Seahawks finished with nine service aces and 51 digs as a team.
The Seahawks will return to action Saturday, Oct. 10, when they travel to Wilson College for another United East matchup.
