SALISBURY, Md. – Senior captain
Katelin Scala (Catonsville, Md./Mount de Sales) scored four times Saturday afternoon (April 18) to lead the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's lacrosse team in their regular-season finale. St. Mary's College (4-10) dropped a 23-8 non-conference decision to No. 4 Salisbury University (15-0).
The Seahawks now shift their focus to the upcoming United East Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament. SMCM, the four-time defending United East champion, will take on No. 4 seed Notre Dame of Maryland University (0-10) in the divisional semifinals on April 22 at the Jamie L. Roberts Stadium at a time to be determined.
How It Happened
- Salisbury opened with a 3-0 lead before Scala notched her first of the game at 11:13. Scala found the back of the net for a second time at 6:03 to keep St. Mary's College within two at 4-2. The Sea Gulls tallied the final three goals of the first quarter for a 7-2 advantage.
- The Seahawks picked up the first two goals of the second frame to pull within three with 5:38 left in the first half. SU tacked on three more for a 10-4 lead with 1:42 to go. First-year attacker Sarah Fitter (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) trimmed the deficit to five in the final 32 seconds.
- Salisbury outscored SMCM 13-3 over the final 30 minutes of the game.

- St. Mary's College edged the Sea Gulls, 17-16, in draw controls as junior midfielder Hope Harrison (Catonsville, Md./Mount de Sales) led the way with five.
