KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced July 15 the recipients of the 2025-26 Team Academic Excellence Award as well as the members of the Honors Court, representing achievement in the classroom by men's college basketball teams and individual players.

The Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize programs that completed this academic year with a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

This season, the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team posted a 3.05 team GPA, marking the second consecutive year that the Seahawks have earned this honor.

The Honors Court, meanwhile, includes junior, senior, and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the current academic year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.

Ben Kobil '27 (Washington, D.C./Jackson-Reed), Jake Koverman '26 (Severna Park, Md./Southern), and JD Salo '26 (Dunkirk, Md./Northern) represented St. Mary's College on the Honors Court this season.

Koverman and Salo, both team captains this season, are both making their second straight appearance on the Honors Court while all three earned a spot on the 2026 United East Conference Winter/Spring All-Academic Team.

Kobil posted a 3.608 GPA during his junior campaign as an economics major and business minor while Koverman owned a 3.354 GPA as a sociology major in his final year as a Seahawk. Salo tallied a 3.4625 GPA in his senior year as an environmental studies major and biology minor.

Over 400 programs received this year's NABC Team Academic Excellence Award while over 2,300 players earned spots on the NABC Honors Court for 2025-26.

St. Mary's College finished the season with a 10-14 (6-7 UEC) record, going into the 2026 United East Tournament as the No. 7 seed.
