ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – St. Mary's College of Maryland Head Athletic Trainer DJ Hayes announced Wednesday (Aug. 5) the hiring of Easley Pierson as an assistant athletic trainer, effective Aug. 5.

Throughout the hiring process, he demonstrated a strong commitment to student-athlete care, collaboration, and professional growth," Hayes stated. "I am confident Easley will be a tremendous asset to our sports medicine team and will have a positive impact on the health, performance, and overall experience of our student-athletes."
 
Pierson will be caring for and working with women's volleyball, women's basketball, men's lacrosse, and sailing teams as a member of the Seahawks sports medicine staff.
 
"I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join St. Mary's College of Maryland and excited to build meaningful relationships while contributing to a culture of excellence that helps our student-athletes succeed both on and off the field," Pierson said.
 
Pierson spent February through May of this year working as an athletic training student with the Louisville Kings of the United Football League in Arlington, Texas. He has held other athletic training student positions with the Lebanon Valley College football (2024) and women's ice hockey (2025) programs, at the Wyomissing Area High (2025) and North Lebanon Secondary (2025) Schools.
 
He also interned at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health and Penn State Family Medicine from May through June 2025. Pierson also served as an athletic training student at Spooky Nook Sports Complex (August-December 2024).
 
The Smyrna, Del., native was a four-year letterwinner (2021-2025) in men's lacrosse at NCAA Division III Lebanon Valley College (Annville, Pa.) of the Middle Atlantic Conference – Freedom Conference. He saw action in 65 contests as a defender. Pierson scooped up 79 ground balls and caused 37 turnovers while adding four career points on three goals and one assist.
 
As a senior, he was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team and landed on the MAC Academic Honor Roll as well as the EAST-COMM Academic Honor Roll.
 
Pierson graduated from Lebanon Valley in May 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science before wrapping up a Master of Athletic Training at LVC in May 2026.
