HUGHESVILLE, Md. — The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's cross country team turned in a dominant performance at its home Seahawk XC Classic Friday evening at Oak Ridge Park, placing six runners in the top six to claim the team victory.

Junior Ella Mitchell led the way for the Seahawks, winning the individual 6K race with a time of 26:02.8. Mitchell was followed by first year Maggie Tsambikos, who placed second in 29:21.9.

Senior Alexis Hodges crossed the finish line third overall in 30:01.9, while senior Avery Arizzi finished fourth in 30:14.8. Senior Elise Geiger rounded out St. Mary's scoring five with a fifth-place finish in 30:21.7.

Senior Weiya Carter completed the Seahawks' dominant top-six showing, finishing sixth overall in 30:27.9.

St. Mary's also received strong performances from senior Sophie Reed, who placed ninth in 32:22.5, first year Aurora Della-Giacoma, who finished 11th in 33:12.9, and sophomore Elle Wilson, who crossed in 14th at 34:43.0.

First year Audrey Pham finished 15th in 36:01.2, junior Kayla Thomas was 16th in 36:08.0, junior Jessica Satz placed 19th in 39:20.8, and first year Ria Tribbitt finished 20th in 41:02.3.

With St. Mary's runners occupying the first six places overall, the Seahawks secured the team victory with 15 points.

The victory comes one week after St. Mary's placed seventh at the LVC Dutchmen XC Invite to open the season, with Mitchell leading the Seahawks with a 12th-place finish.
