Seahawks Sweep Regent to Earn Second Straight Victory

Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland volleyball team (9-5) continued its winning ways on Monday evening, sweeping Regent University (7-7) in three sets at Norfolk Christian High School. Coming off a five-set reverse sweep against Cairn, the Seahawks carried their momentum into Monday's match up, securing a 3-0 victory (25-19, 25-15, 25-22). 

How It Happened 

The Seahawks opened the match with a 25-19 victory in the first set, recording 13 kills while holding the Royals to a negative hitting percentage. 

St. Mary's continued its strong offensive performance in the second set, recording a match-high 15 kills and a .273 hitting percentage. The Seahawks controlled the frame, earning a commanding 25-15 victory to take a 2-0 advantage.

Regent challenged St. Mary's in the third set, which featured eight ties and five lead changes. However, the Seahawks held off the Royals to secure a 25-22 victory and complete the three-set sweep.

  • Julia Bobrowski led the Seahawks with a match-high 13 kills, hitting an impressive .393 while adding 10 digs for a double-double.
  • Maya Mauro followed closely with 12 kills, eight digs and a solo block. 
  • Sanaa Porter contributed five kills, three solo blocks and five digs.
  • Lauren Panageotou dished out a team-high 16 assists, while Camryn Sapp added 13 assists and seven digs.
  • Stella Marrero anchored the Seahawks defense with a team-high 18 digs and chipped in five assists.
St. Mary's finished the match with 42 kills, 40 assists, and 67 digs while holding Regent to a .036 hitting percentage.
