ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. — The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Franklin & Marshall College Friday afternoon at Jamie L. Roberts Stadium.

The Seahawks (1-1-0) battled the Diplomats throughout the 90-minute contest, but a first-half goal proved to be the difference. Franklin & Marshall's Meg Balerna found the back of the net in the 41st minute, scoring off an assist from Amanda Nemeth to give the Diplomats a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.

St. Mary's goalkeeper Breanna Brown kept the Seahawks within striking distance, making five saves over the 90 minutes. Brown made four saves in the opening half, including stops on shots from Ellison Errington, Ashley Inacio and Emerson McDonald.

The Seahawks created opportunities to level the match in the second half. Gracie Tourangeau forced a save from Franklin & Marshall goalkeeper Lucy Fleming in the 63rd minute, while Jill Kemp added a shot in the final 11 minutes of play.

Franklin & Marshall finished the afternoon with a 13-3 advantage in shots and held an 8-2 edge in corner kicks. St. Mary's put one shot on goal, while the Diplomats placed six attempts on target.

Brown finished with five saves for St. Mary's, while Fleming recorded one save to preserve the shutout for Franklin & Marshall.

The Seahawks fall to 1-1-0 on the season, while Franklin & Marshall improves to 1-0-0.
