SALISBURY, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team scored three goals in the first half and held on for their second victory in a row Saturday afternoon (Sept. 5). Junior forward
Nick Haney (Chesapeake Beach, Md./Northern) tallied a game-best five points on a career-high two goals and an assist in leading St. Mary's College (2-1) to a 4-2 non-conference win over Eastern Mennonite University (0-3) on the final day of Salisbury University's Elmer Lord Memorial Tournament.
How It Happened
- The Seahawks jumped on the scoreboard in the ninth minute when senior captain Braden Kindred (Olney, Md./Sherwood) finished a pass from Haney for his first goal of the season.
- Haney tallied his first goal of the afternoon in the 25th minute to double SMCM's lead.
- St. Mary's College went into the break with a 3-0 advantage following a goal from junior midfielder Zach Blaum (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) in the 32nd minute.
- Eastern Mennonite avoided the shutout with two goals in a seven-minute span from Xavier Barravino and Elijah Bryd, closing the gap to 3-2 at 76:10.
- The Seahawks received an insurance marker in the 83rd minute when Haney found the back of the net with an unassisted goal.
