Box Score Owings Mills, Md. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland volleyball team battled through a full day of competition Saturday, splitting a pair of matches at Owings Mills Gymnasium. The Seahawks pushed Stevenson University to five sets in the morning before bouncing back in the afternoon with a convincing 3-0 sweep of Eastern Mennonite University. 

St. Mary's opened the day with a hard fought five set battle against Stevenson, ultimately falling 3-2. After dropping the opening set, the Seahawks responded with strong performances in the second and third sets to take a 2-1 lead. St. Mary's continued to battle in the final two sets, but Stevenson narrowly claimed the deciding fifth set. 

Maya Mauro led the Seahawks with 14 kills, while Julia Bobrowski and Erianna Mendieta each added eight. Vlada Costenco provided an efficient offensive spark with seven kills, and Bobrowski led the defensive effort with 12 digs. 

St. Mary's regrouped quickly and returned to the court in the afternoon with a strong performance against Eastern Mennonite. The Seahawks controlled the match from the start, taking the first two sets comfortably before closing out the sweep with a 25-23 victory in the third. 

Bobrowski led the Seahawks with nine kills and 14 digs, while Mauro and Costenco each added five kills. Mendieta contributed five kills and a pair of blocks, while Camilla Galeano paced the offense with 20 assists. 

With the split, the Seahawks move to 1-2 on the season and return home Tuesday, Sept. 8, to host Sweet Briar at 5:30 PM.
