ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. – Senior captain
Roshawn Panton (Bowie, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) was tabbed as the St. Mary’s College of Maryland Seahawk of the Month for the month of September.
Panton is picking up the first Seahawk of the Month award for the 2021-22 academic calendar.
The Department of Athletics & Recreation executive team selects the Seahawk of the Month award recipient each month.
The 5-7 midfielder guided the Seahawks men’s soccer team to an 8-2-0 (2-1-0 United East) overall record during September, helping St. Mary’s earn the program’s highest-ever national ranking of No. 3.
Panton paced the squad with 20 points on team-bests of eight goals and four assists. He ended the month on a six-game point streak.
Panton tallied three multiple-goal games as he tallied two goals in wins over Eastern Mennonite University (Sept. 4), York College of Pennsylvania (Sept. 15), and SUNY Morrisville (Sept. 18). He also posted five multiple-point performances, including a season-best five points in a 5-1 victory over Eastern Mennonite.
St. Mary’s College (9-3-0) returns to action this Saturday, October 9, traveling to Newport News, Va., to take on Christopher Newport University (4-3-2) at 7:00 p.m.
