Nairem Moran is back at St. Mary's College for her second stint as the director of athletic communications for the Seahawks' 23 varsity sports as Moran was rehired in August 2021. Two months later, she was asked to serve as the interim senior woman administrator (SWA)Â in addition to her athletic communications duties. In August 2022, the interim tag was removed and Moran was permanently named the department's senior woman administrator.
As the SWA, she supervises the sports of men's and women's cross country, women's soccer, volleyball, and men's and women's track & field.Â
Moran returned to St. Mary's City following two-plus years as the director of athletic communications at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa. (Dec. 2018 - Aug. 2021). She helped the River Hawks increase their social media presence, augmenting their followers to 3,000-plus on Instagram.
In 2019, Moran attended the NCAA Division III Institute for Administrative Advancement. The Institute seeks to provide professional development and networking opportunities for administrators from under-represented populations in Division III athletics and provides the selected participants with a unique experience to learn more about themselves as administrators, gain additional skills and tools to grow within their current roles.Â
She first returned to her alma mater in January 2007 in the capacity of sports information director (SID). The title changed to director of athletic communications in Summer 2016. During her first tenure at SMCM, Moran served as a co-advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (2011-17) and as a member of the editorial board for the school's magazine, Mulberry Tree. Moran helped initiate and design the Seahawks' first fully responsive and customized website through PrestoSports while partnering with Stretch Internet to stream St. Mary's College's home athletic events.
Moran came to St. Mary's by way of Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C. where she served as an intern in the sports information office for 18 months (2005-06) working primarily with the volleyball and men's and women's lacrosse programs.
Before arriving at Presbyterian, she served as the first-ever full-time assistant SID at The College of New Jersey in Ewing for five years. Moran was the primary contact for field hockey, women's soccer, men's and women's swimming & diving, women's lacrosse, and softball while helping with other teams as needed. She had the opportunity to serve as the media relations director for the 2005 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship hosted by TCNJ.
Previous sports information stops include Middlebury College (1999-2000) in Vermont and Bryn Mawr College (2000) in Pennsylvania. Moran has been a member of the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) since 2000. She served on the Goodwill & Wellness Committee for two years (2019-21).
Moran played field hockey and women's lacrosse for the Seahawks all four years, earning All-Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) honors in both sports and winning back-to-back CAC women's lacrosse championship titles in 1998 and 1999.
In January 2015, she was named to the CAC Silver Anniversary Women's Lacrosse Team. Moran was then inducted into the St. Mary's College Athletics Hall of Fame on September 25, 2021.
