Rose Burke

Rose Burke was selected as the 13th head coach of the Seahawk volleyball program in April 2013. Burke came to St. Mary's with 13 years of experience, both as a coach and player.

In her first season with the Seahawks, she guided the team to their eighth winning season in the past 10 years with an 18-10 (3-5 CAC) record. St. Mary's won the Lycoming College Warrior Tip-Off Classic with a 4-0 record while Burke mentored a first team All-CAC performer in Mandy Goodspeed '16.

The Gainesville, Florida native caught the coaching bug in college, working at camps for middle and high school students. Burke then honed her coaching philosophy and skills as a D-I assistant at Florida International University and Morgan State University.

During her one season at FIU, the Panthers were ranked in the Top 25 and won the 2009 Sun Belt Conference regular-season title. Burke developed her recruiting style while at Morgan State (July 2010-July 2012) as her first recruiting class took the MSU Bears from fifth in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference to second the following season.

Burke was a four-year starter at NCAA Division I California State University Sacramento on a full athletic scholarship. She was part of three Big Sky Conference championship teams while at Sacramento State, earning all-conference honors in 2007 and 2008 as a setter. Burke also competed in the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament between 2005 and 2007.

She earned a degree in liberal studies with a focus in mathematics from CSUS in 2009.
