Selinsgrove, Pa. - The St.
Mary's College of Maryland volleyball team came in third place at
the Susquehanna University Invitational after establishing a 2-2
record at the two-day tournament. The Seahawks (9-7) split
their final two matches, falling in four sets to the host and
rebounding with a 3-1 victory over Wilkes University.
Junior outside hitter Claire Kodan (Olney,
Md./Sherwood) represented St. Mary's on the All-Tournament Team as
Kodan finished the two-day tournament with 63
kills (.322 hitting percentage), 39 digs, five block assists and
two service aces.

St. Mary's captured the first set, 25-19, before dropping
the next three (26-28, 23-25, 20-25) as Susquehanna (9-9) walked
away with the 3-1 win.
Kodan poured in a match-high 19 kills and one
block assist, while being one dig shy of a double-double with
nine. Sophomore middle blocker Gena Hlavinka
(Gaithersburg, Md./T.S. Wootton) was the only other Seahawk with
double digit kills as Hlavinka notched 11 and
added one block solo along with four block assists.
Senior outside hitter Sarah Gregorini (Ellicott
City, Md./Centennial) contributed nine kills, 10 digs, and two
block assists, while senior middle blocker Jen
Lamar (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) provided a strong
effort at net with three block solos and two block assists along
with five kills.
Junior setter Katie Obal (Olney, Md./Sherwood)
handed out 44 assists, while chipping in four digs, two kills, two
block assists and a service ace. Freshman libero
Cecilia Blanc (Laytonsville, Md./Poolesville) had
a strong defensive presence as Blanc equaled her
season-high with 21 digs and served up two aces, while freshman
Dani Thorne (Alexandria, Va./T.C. Williams) had 11
digs.

Wilkes 1 (Box Score)
The Seahawks were victorious in the first two sets (25-18,
25-16) before Wilkes (10-8) avoided the sweep with a 28-26 win in
the third set. St. Mary's finished out the match with a 25-12
win in the fourth.
Kodan collected her 12th double-double on 15
kills and 11 digs, while adding one service ace and one block
assist. Freshman outside hitter Jenn Rindone
(Crofton, Md./Spalding) notched season-bests of 13 kills and a .310
hitting percentage, while contributing eight digs and two block
assists as well.
Obal recorded her sixth double-double of the
season with 40 assists and 10 digs as well as one block assist,
while Blanc chipped in 13 digs and one ace.
The Seahawks will return to action next Tuesday, September 29 as
St. Mary's entertains Hood College in a Capital Athletic Conference
tilt at 7:00 pm.
