Box Score

St. Mary's City, Md. – Six different players scored for the St. Mary's College of Maryland field hockey team Friday afternoon in their convincing 6-1 Capital Athletic Conference victory over Wesley College in the regular-season finale for both teams. With the win, the Seahawks locked up the final CAC playoff berth.

The 2015 CAC Field Hockey Championship Tournament begins Sunday, November 1 with first-round action. As the fifth seed, St. Mary's will travel to fourth-seeded York College of Pennsylvania on Sunday for a 1:00 p.m. first-round matchup. The Seahawks will look to avenge a 2-1 loss at York on October 14. First-year midfielder Mollie Belson (Columbia, Md./Atholton) notched St. Mary's lone goal.

Forwards Brady Wolf (Reisterstown, Md./McDonogh) and Nina Collins (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) paced the Seahawks in today's win which snapped a three-game skid. Wolf tallied a season-best four points on a goal and career-high two assists while Collins notched a goal and an assist.

St. Mary's (7-8, 2-4 CAC) owned a 4-0 halftime lead as the Seahawks were on point offensively and defensively, holding Wesley to just one shot in the first half. Junior forward Carly Todd (Crisfield, Md./Crisfield) picked up the team's first goal off a Wolf assist at 10:04. Wolf collected the next goal at 21:32 as she converted her third penalty stroke of the season.

Senior midfielder Grace Reingruber (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) recorded her first goal of the season at 25:16 as Reingruber corralled a loose ball and fired a shot from 14 yards out. The last goal of the half came off the stick of sophomore midfielder Megan Moore (Gambrills, Md./Arundel), who finished a Collins pass at 27:37 for her team-leading seventh goal of the season.

Wesley (4-14, 2-4 CAC) avoided the shutout with senior forward Renee Schneider's (New Castle, Del./William Penn) unassisted tally at 55:54. Collins put back her own rebound at 59:27 to restore the Seahawks' four-goal cushion. Belson found the back of the cage at 66:09 off an assist from Wolf for the game's final score.

St. Mary's outshot the Wolverines, 25-4, and posted an 8-4 margin in penalty corners. Sophomore goalkeeper Alyssa Thompson (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) made just one save in the win while senior Kayla Fromal (Middletown, Del./Appoquinimink) turned away nine shots for Wesley.
