Sewanee, Tenn. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland field hockey team snapped a five-game skid Sunday morning with a 2-1 overtime victory over host Sewanee: University of the South. St. Mary's rallied from a 1-0 deficit for its second win of the season.

How It Happened

• Junior captain Megan Moore (Gambrills, Md./Arundel) propelled the Seahawks to victory with an unassisted goal six minutes and 12 seconds into the 15-minute extra frame.
• Following a scoreless first half, Sewanee staked a 1-0 lead at 61:31 when junior forward Virginia Barry (Greensboro, N.C./Carlisle) put back a rebound off the post.
• St. Mary's dominated the second half with 16 shots and 12 penalty corners and finally capitalized just a minute and a half after Sewanee to knot the game 1-all at 62:48. Senior forward Carly Todd (Crisfield, Md./Crisfield) notched equalizer with her team-leading fifth goal of the season.
• In overtime, both teams had a few early chances to score before Moore tipped in a loose ball for the game-winner.

For the Seahawks (2-7)

• Scorers: Todd (1 goal); Moore (1 goal).
• Goalkeeper: Alyssa Thompson (6 saves, 1 goal allowed, 76:12).
• St. Mary's finished the game with 23 shots (12 on goal) and 17 penalty corners.

For Sewanee (3-5)

• Scorer: Barry (1 goal).
• Goalkeeper: Katya Waters (9 saves, 2 goals allowed, 76:12).
• Sewanee recorded 15 shots (7 on goal) and eight corners in its fourth straight loss.

• Saturday's matchup with Frostburg State will be the Capital Athletic Conference opener.
