ASHLAND, Va. – In their first road game of 2021, the St. Mary's College of Maryland field hockey team dominated their hosts, the Randolph-Macon College Yellow Jackets (2-2), in every offensive category but one Wednesday night. The Seahawks (2-3) succumbed to a 2-0 decision under the lights for their second straight shutout loss.
How It Happened
- Randolph-Macon jumped on the scoreboard early in the first quarter as Maria-Teresa Ambrogi-Torres found the back of the net in the ninth minute off an assist from Mia Kuhnle.
- The Seahawks held R-MC to no shots in the second but were unable to put one past Gatlin Snyder, who made two stops in the second period to preserve the Yellow Jackets' 1-0 lead.
- Alaina McCoy made the most of Randolph-Macon's only shot of the third quarter as McCoy converted a pass from Anna Stribling for her second of the season at 32:02.
- It was all St. Mary's College in the fourth but Snyder and the Yellow Jackets' defense were up to the challenge, keeping the Seahawks off the board and recording their second straight win.
