MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Senior captain
Daryn Alexander (Twinbrook, Md./Richard Montgomery) poured in a career- and game-best 24 points Tuesday night (Jan. 31) but the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team came up short in their fifth straight loss. St. Mary's College (8-11, 3-7 United East) dropped a 68-58 decision on the road to Penn State Harrisburg (9-10, 6-4 United East) in United East Conference action.
How It Happened
- Harrisburg opened the game with a 9-0 run before first-year guard Micah Henry (Laurel, Md./Hammond) connected on the Seahawks' first bucket of the game at 17:02.
- A Chase Robinson dunk gave the Lions its biggest lead of the half, 16-4, at 12:25.
- Alexander scored eight of St. Mary's next 13 points to close the gap to 22-17 at 6:47.
- The hosts regained a 12-point lead with an 11-4 run before Alexander drained a three-pointer at the buzzer to send the Seahawks into halftime down 33-24.
- Alexander tallied 13 of his 24 points in the first half to lead all scorers at the break.
- Harrisburg started the second stanza on a 15-5 run ignited by a Malik Holland triple and capped by a Nate Curry fast-break jumper in the paint for the Lions largest lead of the game, 48-29, at 13:45.
- Over the next 10 minutes, St. Mary's continued to battle and cut the 19-point deficit down to nine (62-53) at 3:01 behind seven points from Henry in a 24-14 run to keep Harrisburg within reach.
- In the final three minutes, the Seahawks went 2-of-6 from the floor, including 1-of-4 from downtown as Alexander hit another shot from beyond the arc to end the game.

- With tonight's win, Harrisburg avenges its January 14 loss to the Seahawks in St. Mary's City as Henry scored a career- and game-high 28 points for St. Mary's in the 78-68 win.
- Former Seahawk Isaiah Eggleston notched team-bests of 17 points seven rebounds while Nate Curry, this week's United East Player of the Week, chipped in 11 points and seven boards.
