ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland field hockey team notched their second win over a nationally-ranked opponent Saturday evening (Oct. 7) to extend their win streak to two. St. Mary's College (6-4) upset No. 17 Rowan University (6-6), 3-1, as sophomore forward
Emma Watkins (Frederick, Md./Linganore) tallied a goal and an assist.
How It Happened
- The Seahawks started the scoring early and scored once in each of the first three quarters to establish a three-goal advantage.
- Senior forward Hayden Kesner (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville) found the back of the cage for her first goal of the season, finishing off a pass from Watkins just 2:35 into the game.
- St. Mary's lead doubled in the second period when sophomore forward Brenna Ziegler (Newark, Del./Newark Charter) put in her team-leading fifth goal of the season at 23:12.
- Twelve minutes later, the Seahawks went up 3-0 as Watkins scored one of her own.
- Rowan avoided the shutout loss at 50:57 with a tally off Sarita Marshall's stick.

- St. Mary's posted an 8-7 (6-4 on goal) edge in shots, but the Profs doubled up the hosts 4-2 in the fourth frame.
