St. Mary's City, MD. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland Women's Soccer Team (3-5-2) kicked off October hosting United East Conference Rival Penn State Harrisburg (6-3-3) in their annual Breast Cancer Awareness Game. The Seahawks came up just short, falling 1-0. Â
How it Happened
-
The Seahawks had a flurry of opportunities early to take a 1-0 lead. Ella Raines nearly capitalized on an opportunity near the post, while Morgan Kresslein sent a shot high moments later that was saved by the Lions goalkeeper.Â
-
Penn State Harrisburg held a 1-0 advantage after the opening 45 minutes of play. Kyla Brossoli found herself in the right place at the right time and was the beneficiary of a great pass from Kylee Altland. Brossoli snuck the ball past Wells to give the Lions the one goal advantage.Â
-
The rest of the half would be quiet offensively and Harrisburg went into the locker room with the lead.Â
-
Ella Raines would do her best to get the Seahawks on the board in the second half, but was just off the mark with a couple of shots.Â
-
The St. Mary's defense continued to play strong and held the Lions scoreless in the second half.Â
-
The Seahawks out shot the Lions 4-2 in the second half, but could not find the back of the net. Penn State Harrisburg would hang on to win, 1-0.Â
