ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – A slow start led to the second straight loss for the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team Friday afternoon (Nov. 10) at the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena. St. Mary's College (0-2) dropped an 83-61 non-conference decision to Bridgewater (Va.) College (1-1).
How It Happened
- Bridgewater jumped out to a 7-0 start and never looked back in building a 42-25 halftime advantage. The Eagles biggest lead of the half was a 38-18 advantage at 1:40 following a Will Dunlap layup.
- The Seahawks made a small run (25-17) within the first 10 minutes of the second half to close the gap to 55-43 at 11:25 following an and-1 play by senior captain Hollique Johnson's (Glen Burnie, Md./Old Mill). This would be the closest St. Mary's would get the rest of the game.

- St. Mary's posted a +4-turnover margin to gain a 17-13 edge in points off turnovers.
- Bridgewater dominated the glass, notching a 53-34 rebounding margin as Alec Topper grabbed a game-best 12 boards.
- It was a tough day for the Seahawks at the free throw line, hitting just 14-of-30 free throws for the game.

- Fifth-year captain Daryn Alexander (Twinbrook, Md./Richard Montgomery) and first-year guard Kyree Smith (Baltimore, Md./City College) paced the Seahawks with 13 points each while sophomore guard Micah Henry (Laurel, Md./Hammond) added a dozen.
- Johnson hauled in a team-best nine rebounds while sophomore captain JD Salo (Dunkirk, Md./Northern) picked up four blocks.
Bridgewater Game Notes
- Jordan Cooper poured in a game-high 20 point to lead the Eagles in their first win of the season.
- Topper finished the game with a double-double on 16 points to go along with his 12 boards.
