ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team turned around a 10-point first half deficit into an eight-point United East Conference win Friday night (Feb. 17). St. Mary's College (11-13, 6-9 UEC) completed the season sweep of SUNY Morrisville (11-13, 7-8 UEC) with an 82-74 victory.
How It Happened
- Morrisville scored the first bucket of the game and stayed ahead for more than half of the first stanza, building a 34-24 advantage with 7:25 remaining in the opener thanks to a three-pointer by Chad Vickers.
- During the Mustangs hold on the game, St. Mary's tied the game twice – once at 18:17 (5-5) and again at 11:55 (20-20) on two-point baskets by sophomore forward Naz Fisher (Washington, D.C./Washington Latin) and first-year guard Micah Henry (Laurel, Md./Hammond), respectively.
- A three-pointer by junior forward Hollique Johnson (Glen Burnie, Md./Old Mill) at 5:58 sparked a 19-5 run to close out the half and send the Seahawks into the locker room with a 43-39 edge.
- The two sides traded leads in the first three minutes of the second frame before Jordan Coard ignited a 12-6 run at 17:21 which helped Morrisville regain a 57-52 lead five minutes later as Coard capped the run.
- Johnson once again responded for St. Mary's as his two-point jump shot in the paint started another big run, this time a 19-6 push to give the Seahawks their biggest lead of the game, 71-63, at 4:24.
- Tron Smith drained a three-point shot with 1:04 remaining to cut the Mustang deficit to 75-72 but Morrisville would get no closer as St. Mary's closed out the game by going 5-of-6 at the free throw line and first-year guard Keon Wright (Jessup, Md./Chapelgate Christian) sealed the win with a fastbreak layup as 14 ticks remained.

- Brandon Kulakowski paced the Mustangs in their second straight loss with 19 points and nine caroms.
- Morrisville's shooting dropped from 46.9-percent (15-32) in the first half to 34.3-percent (12-35) over the final 20 minutes.
