St. Mary's City, MD-- The St. Mary's College of Maryland Baseball Team (1-2) hosted the Mules of Muhlenberg University (1-1) for two seven inning games at the Hawks Nest. The Seahawks dropped the first game in a tight one, 4-3, but bounced back in a big way for game two, defeating the Mules 15-5.
How It Happened (Game 1)

The Seahawks were able to strike first in the bottom of the opening inning thanks in part to errors made by the Muhlenberg squad. Cole Tarleton was able to advance to second base due to an error by the Mules, which allowed Chase Odell to reach home plate from second in an unearned run.The Seahawks left two runners stranded in the inning and Muhlenberg evened the game up at one a piece in the top of the second inning.

Muhlenberg took their first lead of the day in the top of the third inning thanks to an unearned run given up by St. Mary's. The Mules would go on to extend their advantage to three in the sixth inning, taking a 4-1 lead.

The St. Mary's bats began to heat up in the bottom of the seventh. Brian Sanders and Ian Walters were both able to get on base, which led to an RBI from Garrett Pullium to send Sanders home and advance Walters to third. Ian Adams then came through with a clutch RBI single to send home Ian Walters and cut the Muhlenberg lead to just one. Unfortunately for the Seahawks, the rally would end there and the Mules would tale game one of the double header, 4-3Â

After falling behind 1-0 after the top of the first inning, the Seahawks got right to work in the bottom of the first and took the lead 2-1 following Ian Adams reaching home on a double play ball and George Berbakos converting on an RBI single The Seahawks would score the next four runs over the second, third and fourth innings to extend their lead to five. Trevor Smith and George Berbakos both drove in runs off of RBI singles, while Adrian Auber drove a ball over the left field wall to give the Seahawks their first home run of the year.

The Seahawks were far from done making their mark in the scoring column and turned in a nine run fifth inning effort. George Berbakos came away with the biggest hit of the inning, driving in a run through an RBI double. Dan Weeden put an exclamation point on the inning by doubling down the line and getting two runners around home plate. St. Mary's used the six hit inning to pull away from the Cardinals and ultimately take game two of the double header, 15-5.Â
