ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – A balanced attack helped the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse team get back in the win column Saturday afternoon (March 18). St. Mary's College (6-4) doubled up the visiting SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles (2-4), 12-6, for the non-conference victory.
How It Happened
- Neither side found their offensive rhythm in the first quarter with the two teams combining for two goals on 18 shots in the first 15 minutes.
- After Brockport scored the first goal of the second period for a 2-1 Golden Eagle lead at 12:15, the Seahawks found their stride and rattled off five straight from five different scorers to stake their first lead of the game, 6-2, with 4:49 left in the first half. Nate Askin found the back of the net with 18 seconds remaining in the half to close the gap to 6-3 at halftime.
- Askin struck again 35 seconds into the third frame to spark a quick 2-0 spurt by the visitors to pull within 6-5 at 10:46 as Jhovanny Olivares also scored for Brockport.
- It was all St. Mary's after that as the Seahawks put together another 5-0 run over the next eight minutes and 23 seconds to lead 11-5 with 12:21 left in the game.
- Askin completed the hat trick with his third of the day at 9:08 for the Golden Eagles' final tally of the game. Senior attackman Walker Krizman (Damascus, Md./Damascus) joined the scoring with his 20th of the season with 6:01 to go.
- Brockport turned the ball over four times in the final six minutes and generated just one offensive opportunity, which was denied by senior goalie Ben Robertson (Davidsonville, Md./South River).

- St. Mary's dominated the shots, 45-28, and ground balls, 33-14.
- Senior Mitch Boudreau (Towson, Md./Towson) grabbed a game-best 11 loose balls as Boudreau won 13-of-19 face-offs. For the game, the Seahawks were 14-of-22 at the face-off X.
- The Seahawks caused 13 of Brockport's 22 turnovers as junior defenseman Ethan Little (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) led the way with a career-best four forced turnovers.

- Attackmen Aiden Doyle (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) and Keegan Preis (Upper Falls, Md./Loyola Blakefield) led the Seahawks with a game-best three points. Doyle tallied two goals and one assist while Preis had a goal and two helpers.
- Midfielders PJ Fenchak (Lutherville, Md./Towson) and Drew Goldscheider (Pikesville, Md./Beth Tfiloh) each contributed two goals in the win. This was a career-tying effort for Goldscheider.
- Sophomore defensive midfielder Quinnten Hatfield (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) came up big for the Seahawks with career-bests of six ground balls and two caused turnovers.
- Robertson finished the game with 10 saves as St. Mary's snapped its two-game skid.
Brockport Game Notes
- Askin put up three to lead the Golden Eagles while Ryan McCarthy tacked on a pair as Brockport saw its two-game win streak halted.
- Cameron Kuzniar stood strong in goal, coming up with 17 saves.
