St. Mary's City, MD-- The St. Mary's College of Maryland Baseball Team (4-6) hosted the Wells College Express (6-9) for a United East Conference Doubleheader this afternoon (Mar. 18). The Seahawks started the day with hot bats, taking game one 21-8. The Express would rally for game two, coming out on top by a final of 7-4.
How It Happened (Game 1)

The Seahawks came out ready to go from the first pitch, jumping out to a 7-0 lead after the first inning. The Seahawks had eight hits in the inning, all by different players. Ian Adams led things off with a lead off hit and the flood gates would open from there. Dan Weeden would contribute an RBI triple, which was followed by a Cole Tarleton RBI double. St. Mary's would then see George Berbakos, Brian Sanders, Garrett Pullium, and Mitchell Fradkin all make contact on RBI singles. The Express would cut into the lead and make it a five run ball game going into the fourth inning.

St. Mary's would put together their most impressive offensive showing of the season to this point in the bottom fourth, scoring 10 runs off of eight hits. Chase O'Dell and Cole Tarleton would each contribute two RBI's in the inning, O'Dell on a single and Tarleton on a double. Garrett Pullium, Adrian Auber, and George Berbakos would each contribute an RBI as well. The Seahawks also showed off their base running in the inning. Cole Tarleton and George Berbakos each were called safe on a stolen base attempt. The Seahawks led 17-2 going into the fifth inning.

The Seahawks would see their lead extended in the bottom of the fifth, scoring four more insurance runs. Myles Pittman made the biggest play of the inning when he drove home two runners off of a single to left field. St. Mary's would take a 21-3 lead, which would prove to be insurmountable for the Express. The Seahawks would go on to win, 21-8.

Offense wasn't as easy to come by to start game two for either team, as the Express led the Seahawks 2-1 after three innings. Chase O'Dell got the scoring started for the Seahawks when he doubled to left center, allowing Myles Pittman to score from second. Pittman would steal second base earlier in the inning.

The Seahawks would trail the Express 6-1 going into the eighth inning, but the Seahawks would begin to rally. Trevor Smith hit a double to left field that would send home Garrett Pullium and Ian Walters to trim the Express lead to just three. Chase O'Dell would get walked with the bases loaded to send home Trevor Smith from third to cut the Wells lead to two. Despite the strong push from the Seahawks, Wells would tack on another run in the top of the sixth inning and go on to take game two, 7-4.
